My parents Bill and Eileen along with my Uncle Bill and Aunt Maddy set out on a journey to visit my sister Debbie in New Hampshire. They went on a road trip from Long Island, New York to Debbie’s home in Rochester. As they turned onto Debbie's street, Eileen’s eyes sparkled at the sight of a quaint Inn at the end of the road. She thought it would be the perfect spot to stay and suggested they check in.
Eager to settle in, Eileen and Aunt Maddy swiftly exited the car and made their way to the front desk, while Bill and Uncle Bill parked the car and began unloading the luggage. As Eileen and Aunt Maddy walked towards the lobby, they both noticed a lot of geriatric aged people milling about on the outside of the establishment. Aunt Maddy snickered that the clientele here seemed to be a bit on the “older” side. Once inside, they noticed the very comfortable furnishings and decor, and more “older” clientele. Eileen and Aunt Maddy confidently approached the receptionist and requested two rooms for their stay, preferably king beds with a view!
To their bewilderment, the receptionist informed them that the Inn was not a Inn at all—it was a nursing home. They did not rent out rooms; instead, it was a residential facility for the elderly.
As Bill and Uncle Bill both entered the lobby with the luggage in hand, Eileen relayed the unexpected news. With a mix of embarrassment and amusement, she exclaimed, "Well, looks like we can't stay here!" They all burst into laughter at the hilarious mix-up and quickly decided to find a more suitable place to spend their visit.
