The Running Joke: Episode 3
Eileen's forgetfulness with leaving the car running seemed to be a recurring theme. On one occasion, she took her twin granddaughters, who were around four years old at the time, to a picnic at Tradewinds Park for the Broward Sheriff's Office employee picnic. Excited and preoccupied with getting the girls out of their car seats and into their double stroller, and getting all of their belongings out of the car, she unintentionally left the car running with the driver side door open.
As our family enjoyed the picnic, an announcement suddenly blared over the speakers, calling for the owner of a white Toyota Camry with a specific tag number to come to the front of the pavilion. Everyone recognized the description, and there was a moment of concern about what might have happened to Eileen's car.
Eileen made her way to the front, where she was met by a sheriffs deputy holding her car keys. The deputy explained that her car had been left running with the door open in the parking lot. Despite the embarrassment, everyone had a good laugh about Eileen's forgetfulness, adding another amusing chapter to her adventures with leaving the car running.
