The Running Joke: Episode 2
Eileen's forgetfulness with leaving the car running continued to provide moments of amusement and concern. One day, after returning from grocery shopping, she unloaded her groceries and took them upstairs to her condo. After putting away the groceries and starting dinner, she decided to relax and watch one of her favorite cooking shows, the Barefoot Contessa, for some meal inspiration.
Meanwhile, Christine, was returning home from work around 6pm, just a few hours after mom had arrived home from the grocery store. (My sister Christine also lived in the same condo building as mom.)
As Christine pulled into the parking lot, she noticed mom’s car with the engine running and the door wide open. Immediately concerned, Christine thought something terrible had happened to mom and began looking around for any signs of trouble.
Fearing the worst, Christine hurried upstairs to mom’s condo to check. To her relief, she found her safe and sound, laughing and enjoying her cooking show. It was a false alarm, but Christine couldn't help but laugh at the sight of her mother, oblivious to the commotion she had caused.
After her heart rate returned to normal, Christine joined Eileen in laughter, grateful that her mother had not become a statistic and adding another amusing incident to the list of Eileen's comical Chronicles.
